LNG industry takes the brunt of skill shortage

MH900442769It is said that the LNG is on the front lines of a deteriorating skills shortage.

This could have quite a serious impact on the potential of the resources boom – something that could be blamed on an ageing workforce and lack of available professional talent.

The rock pool of available workers are going to be stretched between the mining, LNG, and electricity supply sector. This can only spell chaos for Australia’s economy.

Coupled with global competition for talent in these industries, without more attention from these industries and the Australian government – how confident can we be of a positive future for this industry?

I agree with your comments, the skills shortage is having a major impact on many oil and gas operators and service companies.. Perhaps the only way to overcome these challenges is for the industry to work together to develop new talent from a the Y generation
