Woodside LNG battling protesters, and more recently the law?!
Here’s the plan: Woodside builds a $30 billion major LNG processing plant in Broome.
Here’s what happens: People don’t like it, peaceful protest follows. Riot police x 140 are sent.
And now: The Western Australia Environmental Defender’s Office (EDO) launches a civil case to challenge Woodside’s approvals for the preliminary works.
Turns out: The initial approval was invalid because the Kimberley Joint Development Assessment Panel (KJDAP) hadn’t received a responsible authority report from the Shire of Broome. However, Woodside maintains that it has the relevant consents and approvals required for the initial studies of the Browse LNG projects.
And now: We got ourselves a stalemate.
I seem to hear about these stories all the time. How much do you think this impacts on businesses like Woodside?
