How should companies go about assessing the right extraction technique for the reservoir?
Understanding the reservoir characteristics, as well as the good reservoir management, will be a key guide in choosing the most suitable extraction processes or techniques.
Good reservoir management leads to a good recovery factor, depending only on the natural drive mechanisms in the initial years of the reservoir. This may be water drive or gas cap drive mechanism or a combination of both, using the natural force will reduce the production cist significantly and raise the profit margin high.
Understanding the reservoir in terms of it geological features, as well as reservoir properties such as permeability ; porosity; capillary pressure the water -oil contact depth as well as the gas-oil contact depth along side the understanding of properties of the fluid and saturation; density; viscosity; the PVT data all of this will help very much in choosing the best suitable extraction method.
