#Japan indicates high demand for #LNG exports from Australia
Masayuki Naoshima, the Vice President from Japan’s upper-house has confirmed that securing LNG exports from Australian based projects is a top priority for Japan. These claims come shortly after Japan had turned off its last nuclear reactor at the weekend, a direct follow on from the accident at Fukushima in 2011.
Japan’s sizeable investment in Australia’s LNG industry is apparent in the $32 billion Ichthys gas export venture by Japanese oil and gas explorer Inpex Corp. Inpex holds a majority stake in the venture at 72.8 percent, while French producer Total also holds a 24 percent stake.
Bill Townsend, General Manager External Affairs and Joint Venture from Inpex & Mike Sangster, Managing Director, Total E&P Australia will both be sharing their insights at LNG Outlook 2012 conference this year. The event also brings together producers such as GDP Suez and Shell, together with a host of international LNG buyers such as PetroChina, Chubu Electric Power Co & Osaka Gas.
