Bhagwat Negi, Member of Board, Petroleum & National Gas Regulatory Board, India spoke at Shale Gas World Asia 2011 on Constructing an evolving & conducive shale gas partnership framework for international collaboration.
Shri B.S.Negi is a Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with Honours and Post Graduate in Project Management. He is a chartered engineer, Fellow of Indian Institute of Mechanical Engineering and member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has 41 years of experience in the areas of Oil Refining, Fertilizers, Gas Processing, Transportation, E&P and Gas Sourcing.
He has been associated with import of LNG to India from Qatar, Iran, Algeria, Yemen, Australia etc. Shri Negi has been the Member of the technical team from India negotiating for Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI), Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) and Myanmar India gas Pipelines.
Shri Negi has served in various capacities in the organizations like Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, National Fertilizers Limited and GAIL (India) Limited. He has been in the boards of several companies in India as well as abroad.
Negi shared the following:
- Setting the stage for India’s foray into shale gas: Determining the timeline for foreign stakeholders to access block opportunities
- Constructing a dynamic shale gas policy that facilitates seismic surveys which can quickly delineate potential shale gas deposits to invite bids for exploration
- Relaxing the boundaries of exploration permitting exploitation of shale gas as well as conventional gas to make it worthwhile for companies to investigate shale gas they may find while drilling for conventional hydrocarbons
