West of Shetlands proves promising for #Hurricane #Exploration

Hurricane has released the new figures after evaluation of its assets including the Lancaster and Whirlwind discoveries in the UK West of Shetlands region. Reported Offshore 247

Independent Hurricane Exploration is sitting on reserves of between 444 and 470 million barrels of oil equivalent based on a newly completed competent persons report.

Contingent resources are put at between 444 and 447 m boe and prospective resources are put at between 432 and 442 m boe. The figures are in a new CPR prepared for Hurricane by RPS Energy Consultants Limited. Lancaster alone is estimated to contain 2C contingent resources of 207 m boe and the 2C contingent figure for Whirlwind is put at between 179 and 205 m boe. Full article available here

Major operators such as BP and DONG E&P are proving the WoS is a fruitful region for exploration and production success. DONG E&P, OMV UK and Valiant Petroleum will be joining the Oil and Gas Outlook North Sea conference in Aberdeen in March (27-29) to offer key insights into the potential for operational success in the West of Shetlands.
