Success after success for #North Sea #oil and #gas operators
During the past few days operators in the North Sea have witnessed success after success whether that’s firming up wells or acquiring new acreage and stakes – interest in the region is certainly increasing.
Four exploration wells have been firmed up by Bridge Energy for the Norwegian Continental Shelf next year and one in the UK sector. Reported Offshore 247
Norway and UK-based Bridge Energy has signalled that it plans wells offshore Norway in PL457 on the Asha/Noor prospect, on PL554 on the Garantiana prospect; in PL497 on Geite and on PL511 on Mjøsa. PL457 is in the Utsira High area, close to the Draupne field and near the Apollo and Tellus discoveries, as well as the giant Aldous and Avaldsnes field complex which has been extensively appraised this year and which is now classed as the third biggest discovery ever made offshore Norway. Updating North Sea progress EnQuest said efforts to upgrade its UK production assets are moving forward with a new turbine to be installed at the ageing Thistle field and at Heather a platform rig is being improved ready for new drilling next year. Reported Offshore 247
“Offshore work continued on upgrading the Heather drilling rig, to be ready for drilling to start in 2012,” EnQuest has disclosed. Also a power upgrade project is underway at the Thistle field where a new 30 Megawatt gas turbine is being fitted which is due to become operational in the fourth quarter next year, after “…lower than anticipated power availability in 2011,” EnQuest said in an interim statement. British offshore developer Deo Petroleum has taken another step forward in its development of the UK Perth offshore field by agreeing to take on Maersk Oil’s equity in the asset. Reported Offshore 247
Deo said today it has agreed to acquire Maersk Oil UK’s 19.11% equity in the Perth field, which increases its overall Perth equity from 42.083% to 52.030%. Full article can be found here
