The key to gain #Asian #LNG customers
Peter Coleman, CEO of Woodside, stated that the LNG industry could lose Asian customers if relationships between companies, communities, and governments don’t progress for the better. The key to meet the LNG demand in Asia, specifically in China and India, is by establishing a strong relationship between project partners, communities, and governments.
Seven out of the ten largest Australian exporters currently export to Asia with around 77 million tones per annum now on stream. This will be soon increased to over 125 million tones per annum by 2020.
Australian exporters need to realize how they can leverage from Asia’s rapid economic demand for LNG. They just need to lock in the benefits for the long term. Other global exporters are also currently looking into Asia to become long-term LNG suppliers for Asian buyers.
LNG projects require time, money, and most importantly, good partnership between all the different stakeholders. Without a strong partnership between key people and companies involved, it is difficult to get any LNG projects off the ground.
On April 17-18 next year, one of Asia’s biggest LNG conferences, LNG Outlook Asia 2012, will be held in Marina Bay Sands Singapore where Asia’s major LNG buyers will discuss demand, investment and partnerships. This will be an opportunity for suppliers to meet the biggest buyers in Asia.
