Dragon year and the tills are ringing for home furnishers

The American home furnishing industry is predicted to experience a boost in their sales figures largely due to the year of the dragon. This is at least, according to an article by the Forbes. The article uses analytics data released by IBM recently. It’s predicted that total sales of furnishings both in-store and via online purchases are expected to rise by 16.6% in the coming year. Part of the reason is that consumers all over the world are more than ready to furnish their houses but apparently the more pertinent reason is that this year is the auspicious year of the Dragon.

For those not in the know, the year of the Dragon is considered as the most auspicious year to start families or get married. With the Dragon year kicking off earlier this year on February 4, with the pitter-patter of babies comes with it the natural need to renovate homes. IBM cites Chinese spending activity the last time the Dragon year came around. There was a spike in spending by young happy Chinese families and this year they expect the same activity to be repeated again.

Now that is really an interesting insight.
