Singapore SMRT appoints new CEO

SMRT’s Board of Directors announced that Mr Desmond Kuek Bak-Chye will be taking over as CEO and President of Singapore’s largest rail operator. The position was previously held by Saw Phaik Hwa, who resigned last December.

Mr Kuek, whose past roles include Chief of Army, will assume his new role in October. He was previously the Chief of Army at the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), and was also the permanent secretary for Environment and Water Resources in 2010.

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority will be speaking at the annual Asia Pacific Rail 2013, held in Hong Kong from 12-14 March.
