To learn about the latest advances in global metro development the metro CEOs go to MetroRail. Do I see you smiling in disbelief?  Do you think I might be exaggerating? Why not download our Post Event Report and see for yourself.

Most attendees agreed that the 2012 edition of MetroRail was a marked improvement on the previous year, and was a return to form for one of the better regarded events on the metro and light rail calendar.

Speaker attendance and participation was at an extremely high level. If anything we were a victim of our own success – we had so many speakers that we were obliged to cut some of the networking breaks shorter than we would have liked to.

The conference was marked by the global and very high level speaker faculty, by extensive panel discussions, and by a well-attended Metros Awards dinner.

253 participants from every continent included many of the world’s most exciting Metro operators as well as some very innovative suppliers.

The signalling and communications stream was particularly well-supported, with a really productive discussion on overcoming barriers to CBTC and ETCS convergence. Another highlight was the discussion on green mobility and of course the three site visits to the Docklands Light Railway Network, the London Overground network, and London Underground’s new Control Centre at Hammersmith.

As always, the focus day on driverless metros was well-received, and we were pleased to have Didier Bense, Director, Société du Grand Paris as our opening keynote speaker.

We believe that further evidence of the success of this year was the high level of sponsors who have rebooked for next year’s event in Madrid.

Next year’s conference will be in Madrid and will naturally include a particular focus on Latin American growth opportunities.
