Project Management Techniques

At the MetroRail Asia 2011 conference held in New Delhi, India, Mr Piero Antonio Sartore from Tecnimont Civil Construction shared on ‘Project Management Techniques for the Advanced Management of Infrastructure and Civil Engineering Projects’.

In his presentation, Satore highlighted the 5 key variables in project management, which include time, cost, risk, quality, and scope. Due to increased competitiveness, there is a necessity to grow and strengthen these core areas, in order to better the understanding of the project and improve interaction and relationship with the client.

The Turin Metro project was shared as a case-study in the presentation. The 3 achievements that made it such a success are as follow:

  1. Work was completed 3 months in advance
  2. Executive tender design mistakes solved without any impact on the project schedule
  3. High level of client and people satisfaction
