#Port plan will be good for business

837621_bowThe Port of Hastings Development will be a boon for Dandenong businesses, authorities say.

State Ports Minister Denis Napthine said large distribution centres could be built in Dandenong or Lyndhurst to process containers from the port.

If built, this would bring the potential for rail and road links to the centres.

Dr Napthine estimated the development would be running within 13 to 15 years.

“It certainly strengthens Dandenong significantly in terms of the Victorian economy, as a manufacturing centre, as a distribution centre and an employment centre for the whole of Victoria,” Dr Napthine said.

“It will really provide opportunities for importers and exporters to use Dandenong and the suburbs around Dandenong as an area for development.”
