Ports in Nigeria face possible country-wide strike
The Nigerian Labour Congress (it has 4 million members, making it one of Africa’s biggest) has called for a country-wide and indefinite strike beginning on 9 January 2012. This is a response to the removal of a subsidy on petrol that has caused the price of the fuel to almost double.
Apparently all banks, seaports, airports and economic activity will be affected. Travellers to Nigeria should check with their airline before flying there.
