Fix our #rail network and improve our #ports

Sir Rod Eddington, head of Infrastructure Australia, has identified two key infrastructure priorities for NSW in a recent article:

  • Port operations
  • Fixing up the rail network

Eddington specifically referenced Port Botany, saying that any improvement in the port operations would have to be matched by an improvement in road and rail support infrastructure to the port.

He said that though infrastructure investment is essential for the improvement of the economy, it should not be made if an explicit need has not been identified, i.e. investment for the sake of investment.
