#Thales to upgrade Kuala Lumpur monorail #signalling system

asia pacific rail

Thales was recently awarded with a 13.5 million euro project to upgrade the monorail signalling system in Malaysia’s capital. The Monorail, which has been in operation since 2003, will be expanding its passenger transportation capacity by introducing new four-carriage trains.

As the daily monorail operations cannot be interrupted during the upgrading process, it will be a challenge to execute this particular project in a short span of time. The project is expected to conclude next August, with the new system expected to run by November 2012.
