Doubts emerge around Perth underground CBD #rail project

Rail, Perth, John Holland, Brookfield Multiplex

The Financial Review has recently reported on issues John Holland is facing in delivering on the ‘City Link’ project on which they have just begun extensive work.

After aggressively undercutting their rival bidder, Brookfield Multiplex, by at least $50 million John Holland are now facing issues sourcing skilled labour to work in Perth.  They are also considering bringing in the necessary labour from NSW to contain costs.

Kevin Reynolds, the state secretary for the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, said that John Holland had been attempting to win work by bidding at a lower cost rate without factoring in realistic wage rates.
