#Bombardier unveils Blackpool tram and confirms Movia order for Delhi #metro

Bombardier hosted the global launch of the Flexity 2 tram in Blackpool on September 8.
Blackpool and Lancashire County Council has purchased 16 FLEXITY 2 vehicles to operate the line between Blackpool and Fleetwood, which is due to enter service at Easter 2012.
Earlier this week Bombardier announced that it had received an order to supply a further 76 Movia metro cars to Delhi Metro Rail Corp for its expanding metro network.
DMRC needs to increase its fleet size as trains are gradually being extended from four to eight cars. Other measures to increase capacity include reducing headways between trains and increasing average train speed.
DMRC is just commencing construction of the final phase of its proposed network. Click here to see a map on the DMRC website showing the Phase III routes. The new lines will use standard-gauge rolling stock and will be fitted with CBTC signalling. Platform screen doors will be installed at all interchange stations to protect passengers and control dwell times.
Updates on the latest metro projects and future opportunities in the metro sector will be showcased at MetroRail 2012 in London on 27-29 March 2012.
