St George launches a mobile payments feature

Australian banks are facing increased competition in the payments sector.  Banks want to provide the broadest systems for customers to allow mobile, SMS and tablet transfer of funds. They face competition from Google and PayPal.

St George will now offer their customers Pay To Mobile Services with the aim of providing customers access to mobile funds transfer services.

The rollout of the St George pay-to-mobile app will begin 18 June with BankSA and Bank of Melbourne, with St George customers able to access the app from 25 June.
