CBA to launch Kaching for Android
The Commonwealth Bank will extend its Kaching iPhone app onto the Android platform within six weeks, it was announced today.
But the app will be without NFC capability, with Commbank’s CMO Andy Lark blaming Google for not keeping up.
“Our challenge on Android frankly has been in waiting for NFC clarity from Google and we haven’t got it,” said Lark today.
Kaching has successfully been tested with major Android devices including Samsung and HTC, with testing on other less popular devices being carried out now.
CBA remains the only bank in Australia with a commercial NFC rollout. However fellow big 4 Westpac is making moves, having last month launched an NFC ticketing pilot in New Zealand.
