Indonesia’s #retail industry is on the up and up!
As reported in The Jakarta Post, research analyst from PT eTrading Securities showed that retailers in Indonesia were experiencing a growth accompanying Indonesia’s rising per capita income. The growth in level of consumption can be attributed to a rising segment of middle income earners in Indonesia who are able and willing to spend their monies.
It was also discovered that retailers which focus on the lower to middle class segment of the population saw lesser increase in profits as compared to retailers focusing on the high end market. In a sign of growing confidence in Indonesia’s retail industry, grapevine rumours have that companies are looking to sell their stakes in the capital market so as to finance expansion into the retail sector. All in all the Indonesia’s retail market, especially the high end segment, is looking at a purple patch of sorts.
