PT Antam signs EPC contract for Pomalaa ferronickel expansion in Indonesia

PT Antam signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on its ferronickel plant line-4 as part of the Pomalaa expansion project in Indonesia. The US$102 million project will be built by an unincorporated consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries and PT Wijaya Karya. The project is projected to be completed in 27 months.

As parts of the construction of the ferronickel plant line-4, Antam will shut down the operations of the 17 megawatt furnace-1 of the feNi ferronickel plant. Following the shutdown, Antam will replace furnace-1 and operate the 38 megawatt furnace-4, which also includes the operations of the line-4 equipment.

The Pomalaa ferronickel expansion project aims to increase the efficiency and productivity of Antam’s ferronickel plants and comprises of 8 packages including jetty and facilities, belt conveyors, FeNi plant-1, ore preparation and calcination and electric smelting furnace, among others.
