Presentation download: Essel Mining – Mineral Resources Supply Security: Key Driver to India’s Economic Development
It has been reported in the news today that India, the world’s third-largest exporter of iron ore, has been importing large quantities of the raw material in the last four months as a mining ban in the southern Karnataka state and transport curbs have hurt local supplies to steel mills.
According to H.C. Daga, senior vice president of the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries, about 300,000 metric tons of ore in the March-May period.
With the mining ban looking to be continued, it seems like this trend of importing minerals and resources will persist.
