What are the current hottest trends in the #mining industry?

We asked mining trainer Dr Willem Smuts what he considers to be the hottest trends in the mining industry at the moment. Here’s his response:

I’d say the bulk commodities because nobody can get enough. The space-age metals, lithium, rare earth elements and tantalum, as well as gold and diamonds. The world is heading for a serious supply crunch in the near future and there are no new large mines on the horizon, while the large producers are getting old and very expensive. The new mines coming on stream are typically small with limited life-of-mine.
