Involvement of #SWFs in developing global mining partnerships
As with the development banks, SWFs or Sovereign Wealth Funds play an important role in fuelling the continued growth of the #mining sector. Not unlike development banks, SWFs have a strict investment criteria including factors like:
- Size of the mining company
- Sustainability of the project and reputation of the company
- Management capabilities
- Operational efficiency and cost efficiency of project…and many others
In Central Asia, the SWF – Samruk-Kazyna , was created in response to the global economy crisis by merging two organizations in Kazakhstan which is the investment Kazyna and the holding company of Samruk. Currently Samruk-Kazyna has a total of 404 subsidiaries and affiliated companies and plays an immense role in the further development of the mining sector in Kazakhstan.
