In 2006 Prof. Roziah was appointed Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Institute of the University of Malaya. Here she focused her efforts in enhancing the contributions of the Institute through post-graduate studies, global research, international networking and publications. The Institute runs several International Masters programmes by course work in various fields of studies and Ph.D programme by thesis linked to several faculties with the University of Malaya.

She is the Director of Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT), Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia in year 2010 till Mac 2013 and now acting as Deputy Director General for IPTS Sector at Ministry of Higher Education effectively on 4th Mac 2013.

How will companies look in the post-baby boomer era? And how will this affect leadership styles and the business environment?

Odgers Berndtson has put together a great report on how retiring baby boomers, greater international mobility and more women rising to senior leadership ranks are converging to create a fundamentally shifting business environment.

The war for talent will intensify: as the baby boomer generation starts to retire over the next few years, and this is combined with falling birth rates, the competition for global talent will become even more intense.

Most organisations underserve female markets: more and more women are working, and the female market segment is growing faster than most high-growth countries; yet most organisations currently underserve it.

Organisations are not ready for wider cultural changes: 68% of respondents think their companies rely too heavily on male Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from the baby boomer generation, and 43% are not confident that their senior management is future-proof.

Students and educators welcomed a provincial government announcement that Grade 12 diploma exams will soon be offered more often and digitally. Premier Alison Redford and Education Minister Jeff Johnson said Tuesday students will be able to write their Grade 12 diploma exams digitally by the fall of 2017. The exams will be widely offered five times a year instead of the current two. Students would write the exams at school, under supervision.

“We feel it’s a great move,” said Barton Leibel, assistant principal at Archbishop MacDonald High School. “A lot of students are most comfortable with that kind of electronic environment these days. Very few students are gravitating toward tests where they have to pull out a pen and paper. Most are more comfortable with a computer-based situation. I think it creates an opportunity for much more enriched test situations as well. You could potentially see, for instance, video clips being used in exams … Imagine a multiple-choice exam on biology, for example, where part of a dissection could be watched and questions could arise from it.”

One major benefit is that online testing allows Alberta Education to more easily accommodate students with special requirements such as larger text or audio questions, he said. The new format should also make the process faster so students get their marks back sooner, Johnson said.

“That’s just the first step. In the future, you’ll be able to write the exams on demand, because we’ll have it in the digital format, at a time that works best for you, integrated with your flexible learning,” he said.

What is the cost of your timetable? A simple question perhaps – but the answer is complex.
