10 ways to create a Great Place to Work
In 2012 the Great Place to Work Institute surveyed over 5500 organisations globally and 3 million employees.In the 2012 Great Place to Work Australian survey, 6 out of the top 10 companies were in the Information Technology space. Across the Top 10 Australian companies the following were ways these companies went about “creating a great place to work”:
- Offer team members a free day off on their birthday
- Allow, where possible, one day a week to work from home
- Paid maternity and paternity leave
- More part-time and job-share positions
- Well –being programs such as gym membership and anti-flu shots
- Make the work place family friendly
- Greater flexibility with working hours
- Offer grievance counselling
- Let staff take time off when they need to
- Flexible annual leave (offer buy-back schemes)
