Utility retailer AGL set to develop solar projects totalling 159mw

clean energyAGL was selected as a key player in the governments Solar Flagship Program. Under this program the utility will develop a 106mw plant in Nyngan and a 53mw project in Broken Hill, in NSW. This project comes as part of a wave of investment from federal and state government in renewable energy reform. First Solar has announced that it won contract to design, construct and maintain the two projects.

“On an annual basis, the projects will produce enough electricity to meet the needs of at least 30,000 Australian homes. The projects are expected to provide approximately 350 GWh of energy annually.” reports Market Watch.

AGL and other major utility retailers will be at The Utility Show in July, 3rd and 4th.
