Llyod’s Register’s Simon Reeve on the energy challenges facing Asia

For the second plenary session, diamond sponsor Llyod’s Register’s Simon Reeve gave the room a talk on the challenges facing Asia with regards to  fulfilling the future energy needs. Simon Reeve has extensive and expansive experience and knowledge in the mechanical engineering. He has had leadership experience at Alstom Power and currently heads Llyod’s Register power sector. With such an esteemed background, he is the right person to reveal some of the challenges which Asia face in fulfilling their demand for energy in the 21st century.

The main issue is the projected population growth.In 30 years, Asia’s population is expected to make up more than half of the world population. Consequently, Simon revealed that it is predicted that Asia’s already huge demand for energy will grow by 30%. Therefore, there are huge challenges in fulfilling that demand. The integrity of the energy supply at all stages is absolutely crucial.  He stressed the importance of using technology in making the delivering of LNG cost effective and that technology deliver the same cost effectiveness to the production of all energy sources.

Such technology which are on display at the Utility Show Exhibition will no doubt be beneficial in numerous ways in to deliver our energy security in the near future.
