#Lusail Real Estate Development Company signs major contract with #Samsung
#LusailRealEstateDevelopmentCompany announced on Sunday the signing of two #contracts for major #infrastructure projects connected to plans to build a new city in #Qatar.
One of the deals with Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction company, a subsidiary of Samsung Group, will see the building of six bridges, including two suspension bridges.
The second package agrees the construction of highways, underground motorways, and electricity distribution plants in two areas on Lusail City’s Qetaifan Islands. No total value was given for the contracts.
Lusail City, which will have 200,000 residents and capacity to accommodate twice that many people, is scheduled to be completed by 2019.
The city will include #manmade islands, an entertainment district, an office park for #energy companies, a golf course and five stadiums.
Lusail Real Estate Development Company CEO Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari said: "#QatariDiar is proud to be partnering with Samsung, a world-renowned company in high-quality mega infrastructure projects, for these two crucial projects.”
"We are confident in Samsung’s ability to deliver superb quality and we look forward to having them on board as we develop a strong infrastructural system for Lusail City."
Kaldari added that the projects will play an important role in assuring the interconnectivity of Lusail City’s many districts by linking the Qetaifan Islands – future home to 895 Qatari nationals – with other sections across the development.
Samsung C&T President and CEO, Jung Yeon-Joo, said: "I hereby make a personal pledge to follow up on the progress of these projects on a weekly basis.”
"I also reiterate the promise we made when we were awarded the project: Samsung will strive to have the project finalised two months before the official deadline."
