Country-wide need for #energy, #fuel and a matching #government policy in #India
There has been a conscious effort from power generators in India for more visibility on the issue of propelling the country’s energy industry and in turn ensuring economic growth for the future. Top executives and leaders from power companies such as Tata Power and Reliance are approaching the relevant ministries in the Indian government to address falling profits, inefficiency and fuel shortages– all of which are preventing the economy from growing to its full capacity. This initiative of raising this important issue to the top leaders in the government was recently organized by the Association of Power Producers in India.
In addition to fuel shortages and a lack of policy-making ability in the government as of late, power companies are also faced with managing and operating underperforming facilities due to the difficulty in finding funding, government subsidies and investments for upgrades. In this article, the director general of the Association of Power Producers is quoted saying that “plants that can produce about 20,000 megawatts thermal power are working at sub-optimal capacity, and another 30,000 MW of plants under construction are likely to be affected by fuel shortages…”
To hear how operational and technical executives are mitigating common generation issues and maintenance concerns, join Power Plant World Asia 16-19 April in Singapore to learn from major players in the Indian market such as:
Reliance Power
National Thermal Power Corporation
Reliance Infrastructure Ltd.
CLP India
CESC Ltd.
Jindal Power
