Middle East utility to implement #smartelectricity initiatives

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) have made conserving electricity consumption a top priority to curb energy waste.

According to Utilities-me.com’s article, “Dubai to hire power-saving consultant”, H.E. Saeed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Vice Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Council of Energy says: “Measures to adjust air conditioning in office building after hours to save power, switching off lights at night and replacing traditional bulbs for efficient models are all planned to help the emirate save on power, as is the plan to use solar power for heating water.”

DEWA will issue a tender to hire a consultant who will develop a campaign combining the above mentioned strategies by the end of 2012.  To hear more about this initiative and other smart energy strategies, come here Mr. Al Tayer speak at the 2nd Smart Electricity World MENA on November 22, 2011.
