Massive #Energy #Investment Opportunities in #Indonesia

Whats new 3 If you are familiar with the coined term Chindia to combine the 2 power economies in Asia and globally, then time for you to know that the latest term used nowadays is “Chindonesia” . This term was created by A Securities House to include Indonesia as one of the fastest growing economy in the world. The Jakarta stock exchange index, has increased by around 95% making the world’s second-best and Asia’s best performer. GDP growth is expected at 6% in 2011 and 7% in 2012.

With this robust economic development driving growing demand for energy at over 19% by 2011, the Indonesian Government has pledged to increase power generation, transmission and distribution throughout the country over the next 5 years and provide “Electricity For All” by the Year 2020.

Indonesia’s development programme aims to utilize all available energy sources not just the US$26 Billion already sanctioned for new coal fired plants. Last year, the government announced a second 10,000MW project, at a cost of US$16 Billion, to build a further 93 power plants by 2014 with 39% to be Geothermal, 33% Coal, 16% Gas and 12% Hydro Power.

Indonesian Government has also pledged to maximize the country’s considerable renewable energy resources. New power plants to be built will give emphasis on generating green energy such as geothermal and hydropower as well as gas fired plants. Indonesia has capacity in hydropower of 64,000MW but is currently utilizing only 5,000MW, They also have 45% of the world’s geothermal energy resources.
