As of this week, members of Southwest Airlines’ customer rewards program can use their points towards AirTran flights as well. AirTran is owned by Southwest and has not merged the two loyalty programs but uses the situation to offer more options to its customers.

Although customers do have to be members of both programs in order to take advantage of this new perk, it is free to sign up.

Reward points can be redeemed for free flights to places including Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
