Embryonic Stem Cell Therapy for Age-Related Macular Degeneration at Stem Cells USA

Stem Cells USA & Regenerative Medicine Congress Matthew Vincent of Advanced Cell Therapy presented at Stem Cells USA on the use of embryonic stem cells for the regeneration of the retina. The stem cells are directed to be retinal pigment epithelial cells and are injected directly into the retina in an out-patient procedure. Eleven patients with age related macular degeneration have been treated so far, and the majority have demonstrated improved visual acuity.
