#Asian investors looking into #African private #equity
In times where it is difficult for investors to find investments with attractive risk-return profiles, more and more people are turning to previously underestimated regions. Africa is the next big thing in private equity and offers plenty of opportunities. With an average 6% growth rate, African countries such as Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa provide great potential for investors such as Bob Geldof who are willing to take a look at the vast continent. While the public markets have underperformed, profits are more than promising in private equity. The major hurdle is the difficulty of divesting in Africa since one of the most common exits, the company going public via an IPO, is not as feasible in Africa as it is in other markets.
Africa and other emerging markets will also be discussed at Private Equity World Asia 2012, Asia’s most exciting private equity event this year. Click here to find out more.
