Brazilian water utility company, Compesa, to launch PPP for US$2bn sanitation project
Brazilian water utility company, Compesa, has announced that it will use a PPP plan for a project to expand sanitation services in the area surrounding Pernambuco state capital, Recife.
Compesa accepted submissions for PPP designs until the second half of March. Andrade Gutierrez, which submitted its proposal early in the game, was the favorite.
"A tender for the PPP is being planned at the moment but we do not have a specific launch date as last-minute changes may be needed," a spokesperson said.
The PPP plan involves investing 3.5bn reais (US$2.18bn) over the next 12 years to provide universal wastewater collection services for 15 municipalities in the Recife metropolitan region.
