China and Brazil to form strategic partnership to facilitate #investment
Chinese and Brazilian relations took one step forward today, with a meeting in Beijing between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota. The two nations vowed to promote their strategic partnership, and Wen said that China hopes to enhance contacts with Brazil’s new government, deepen political trust, and facilitate bilateral exchanges and cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, technology and culture.
Patriota in turn said that Brazil is ready to make joint efforts with China to boost cooperation in various areas, enhance contact on major international and regional issues, and further cement their bilateral strategic partnership.
China has recently invested in other South American countries, for example with the big rail project in Colombia. Brazil has tax breaks in place for foreign investors, so it certainly seems to be a good fit. Watch this space…
