ETF growth globally- opportunities abroad
I had a very interesting conversation yesterday with Melvin Escudero, the former Peruvian pension regulator and current director of the Finance M.S. program at Universidad del Pacfico in Lima, Peru.
Melvin will be speaking at our ETF & Indexing Investments conference about the meteoric rise of ETF usage in Latin America among local institutional investors and large institutions mainly in Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico. It remains the preferred means of accessing international capital markets since the GFC. Latin American investors have a healthy appetite for international capital markets and are looking to utilize ETFS more and more.
It seems to me that it isn’t just Latin American investors who are rapidly adopting ETFs in their portfolios.
I found this article on Commodity Online regarding the increasing popularity of Gold ETFs among Indian investors. We’ve seen so much attention paid to precious metals ETFs lately (hello ETF Securities’ new GLTR launch) that you just have to pay attention!
Do you all think emerging market investors will continue utilizing ETFs more? Let me know what you think!
