Brighton House Associates spoke at the Annual Hedge Funds World Asia 2011 last year. At his presentation, they identified the top 10 fatal flaws of emerging manager pitchbooks as follows:

1. Pages and pages of text
2. Wordy and complex descriptions of funds’ strategies
3. Poor explanations of risk management procedures and controls
4. Little information on infrastructure
5. Insufficient information on the management team
6. Indecipherable and meaningless graphics
7. Distracting logos and colors, and inconsistent layouts
8. No clear narrative or “story”
9. Irrelevant content
10. Inadequate disclosure about potentially negative data
