<p>Recently, Facebook has introduced clickable hashtags into one’s wall status, a move praised by many while some marketers are hesitant how it will work out for Facebook itself. Twitter has revolutionalised online conversations using hashtags, making it easier for a particular message or topic to be carried further along the viral effect; for marketers, this allow them to track conversations and find out what customers are talking about them, what are their preferences and dislikes, which in turn give brands a chance to convey the right products and services to their target audience.</p>
<p>While Facebook should have known earlier to introduce this earlier, it does not mean that they are losing out as they roll this out in phases now. SingTel is one brand that is taking on the new implementation by Facebook, using the hasghtag #Need4GSpeed in their latest campaign to popularise its 4G service. Although the Director of Digital Marketing (APAC), Miguel Bernas , commented that they are still unsure about the success (well, nothing on social media is guaranteed), SingTel understands the importance of being able to use hashtags to track people’s conversations and respond to demands in real time.</p>
<p><strong>Twitter&nbsp; APAC’s</strong> Managing Director, <strong>Aliza Knox</strong>, once said this about twitter’s hashtags, “When you listen, 70% issues on Twitter are to do with products, 66 per cent requests about the company and another <strong>60 per cent on consumer interactions</strong>.” At the end of the day, it is about real time responding once again, which will lead to customer satisfaction and deeper relationships with their consumers.</p>
<p>Aliza spoke at <a href="www.internetshow.com.sg"><strong>The Internet &amp; Mobile Show Asia 2013</strong></a>, giving very specific case studies of how brands and famous individuals leveraged on hashtags to bring a news far. </p>

<p>M-commerce offers great deal potential, but like many technology trends, it takes time to really become mainstream. If your business is looking to implement m-commerce, there are some important factors to consider beyond the technology. For instance, you have to be mindful about the needs of your customer as well as their user experiences. M-commerce is no doubt an emerging market today and entrepreneurs should play a role by focusing on this field and grab the opportunities given to ride on the wave. As people possess more and more smartphones, the room for m-commerce’s growth widens.
<p>However, in countries such as Indonesia, where the mobile technology and online commerce infrastructures are in the experimental stage, unlike developed countries like Japan, US and France, the growth in m-commerce is slowly progressing. Nonetheless, the potential of M-Commerce in Indonesia is expected to grow at an exponential rate in years to come – all thanks to the heavy mobile penetration rate in Indonesia and especially Jakarta. That said, for the industry to boom, alot of ground work has to be done to facilitate the implementation of M-Commerce for it to fully kick in.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<p>Are you able to differentiate a fake Facebook account from a genuine one?
<p>I guess sometimes it’s rather difficult, especially when there are over 8% of the accounts out there being duplicates or not held by real people. In another words, that will account for about 85 million fake accounts and counting! This poses a big problem for brands when they decide to get on to the social website ‘officially’. According to <a href="http://www.digitalmarket.asia/2013/06/fb-on-verification-trail-a-case-of-a-bit-too-late/?utm_source=DMA+Newsletter&amp;utm_campaign=c5485827aa-Daily_22+May_2013&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_f6bda6adb9-c5485827aa-339813269"><b>Digital Market Asia</b></a>, it faces two problems upfront – first, it may not have access to the desired, easier remembered URL extension any more, and second, how does it convince the world that it was the official page and wean the followers from the ‘unofficial’ one.
<p>Social media platforms do help businesses in various areas such as getting connected with the clients and provide a platform for companies to gain exposure and showcase their products to people. However, we have to be aware of the existence of fake identities online. They may hurt our company’s image and it’s going to be real hard to handle if there are people out there trying to sabotage. Somebody with a fake account is almost by definition – a con artist. Unless you run with that crowd, you probably don&#8217;t want them in your life.
<p>Facebook recognizes the importance of taking the initiative to verify Facebook pages and profiles, albeit rather slowly as compared to Twitter, which ensured fake profiles are under checked for a while now. Some tips for you to identify a possible fake account would be:
<p>1. Look for photos in the profile. If there is only one photo of the individual in the whole profile it makes it quite clear that the account is questionable.
<p>2. Look for status updates, wall posts and comments. If the user hasn’t updated a status for quite a long time and hasn’t been involved in any wall posting or commenting of other statuses, it means that the profile is likely to be a fake one.
<p>3. If you are quite certain about the profile’s fakeness, and want to be absolutely sure, try browsing google for some random profile pictures. Fake profile pictures are usually selected from google and while browsing through it, you might as well come upon the picture the user chose for the fake account.

<p>Ecommerce is growing rapidly in Indonesia, with the market expected to soar to $10 billion by 2015. More global businesses are looking to take advantage of this fast-growing market, with its resilient economy and huge population.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://econsultancy.com/sg/blog/62414-global-businesses-eye-the-emerging-indonesian-ecommerce-market"><b>Econsultancy</b></a>, Indonesia was recently named by global business leaders as a key market to watch in 2013. An annual survey by the Economist Corporate Network highlighted it as one country businesses “can’t ignore”. It came third on their list of where companies would be increasing investment, after China and India. Besides, Analyst Justin Wood highlighted the economic growth in Indonesia is estimated to increase 6 to 7% this year, as well as its young, increasingly affluent population. E-Commerce in Indonesia is still at a relatively early stage compared to Europe and North America. But it has been growing at a rapid rate in the last few years – and this is expected to continue.</p>

<p>As economies take off, consumers and an emerging middle class have become increasingly important parts of the world’s growth story. And, much like peers from all around the world, the middle-class is going online to shop. By offering everything, from underpants to iPads, and allowing customers to pay cash on delivery, start-ups believe they can capture a significant portion of the consumer market. </p>
<p>Nigerian entrepreneur Shn Shagaya founded <i>‘Konga’</i> last July in a four-bedroom apartment, with 20 staff. Today, the company employs 150 and has a large warehouse in Lagos packed with clothes, books, DVDs, freezers, flat-screen televisions, toys and cosmetics. It also has depots in the capital Abuja and Port Harcourt and promises to deliver anywhere in the country within five days. For Mr. Shagaya, the company’s early success is proof of the hunger of the emerging middle class in Nigeria, which has experienced GDP growth of more that 6 per cent per annum since 2006. The e-commerce buzz extends well beyond borders. Swedish investment company Kinnevik and the South Africa media giant Naspers bought stakes in Konga. Further investment has come from investment group Summit Partners, JP Morgan, and mobile company Millicom. </p>
<p>It’s not just an appetite for online shopping; it’s the convenience, which gives the opportunity to leapfrog with e-commerce. It is hence a necessity to tailor the Internet shopping model to local conditions. Smaller, more specialized start-ups are going online all the time, selling everything from sunglasses to maternity wear and supermarket goods. </p>
<p>Everything has come together at the right time for e-commerce in the world. As companies still paddle ahead of the wave, when it comes, it will be huge. </p>

<p>Your logo is your brand, it is the image everybody remembers when they think of your company, if they pass your logo in the street it should have an instant reminder of your company. Your logo speaks a thousand words&#8230;
<p>As the generations are changing you need to keep up with the times and styles. It is important for businesses to update their logos and keep that “fresh” look and approach.
<p><a href="http://www.sagefrog.com/">Sagefrog</a> has some really good ideas and shows some case studies on how a new revitalised logo can have amazing results.

<p>Here are some of the important points I took out from it.
<ul>
<li>Keep your logo similar to the original
<li>If you have shadowed wording, change it to a more clean and simple look
<li>Add in one or two colours to help it stick out
<li>Do not stick a logo in the middle of a word, rather put it on the side, it will be easier on the eyes and will create a simpler look
<li>Stay away from too many light colours as they can be difficult to read</li>
</ul>
<p>What I took out of this case study is that it seems the new style is all about keeping it slick, clean and easy on the eyes.
