Hear from Sina Weibo on Asia’s Social Media development
Asia’s digital landscape continues to evolve at an astonishing rate. Hence, staying up to date with the latest data and trends can be a challenge. Andrew Tran predicted that the Chinese social media networks like Sina Weibo, Ren Ren and QQ will be increasingly popular as brands start looking into Asia for business growth and opportunities.
According to NewMedia TrendWatch, as compared to developed markets (eg US, UK, France), Asia Pacific markets are considered to be more influential for consumers making brand decisions. It was surveyed that 54% of internet users in China said that they would buy a brand because a friend “liked” or followed it on a social network, almost twice the average for Asia-Pacific overall and significantly higher than the 15% of internet users in North America who said the same. Below are the figures for some countries which its people said that they would buy a brand because their friends ‘liked’ the social network.
- China: 54%
- India: 44%
- Indonesia: 39%
- Australia: 15%
- South Korea: 14%
- Japan: 6%
- Asia-Pacific: 28%
