How to learn from Coca-Cola’s online social media principles

How to learn from Coca-Cola’s online social media principles I just came across Coca-Cola’s ‘online social media principles’ for employees and thought they were a great resource to base your own company’s policy on (if you haven’t already produced any).

As marketing leaders, if we are hesitant about employee use of social media then we really to implement a company-wide policy, rather than bury our heads in the sand and end up with a PR disaster on our hands.

I like that Coca-Cola are focused around the five core values of the company in the social media community:

  1. Transparency in every social media engagement.
  2. Protection of consumers’ privacy.
  3. Respect of copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and other third‐party rights in the online social media space.
  4. Responsibility in use of technology.
  5. Utilization of best practices, listening to the online community, and compliance with applicable regulations.

See their full policy here.

And, here are 10 more top tips to help you get started.
