Growth for digital and mobile advertising spend in Australia
IAB Australia has released figures showing that online advertising has achieved healthy growth over the past year, up 21% on FY 10-11. It is the first time that Australian online advertising expenditure has exceeded $3 billion, Warc reports.
The majority (52.3%) of digital spend was for Search & Directories advertising, due to a spend increase of 30%. General Display advertising had a share of 27.2% of spend, with volumes increasing 15%. Classifieds advertising accounted for 20.5% of the pie, with its spend increasing 11%.
Mobile advertising has also seen a massive year, with ad spend up 212%. General display accounted for 60.3% of mobile spend, with search making up 39.7%.
