Growth for digital and mobile advertising spend in Australia

advertising spend increases online and mobileIAB Australia has released figures showing that online advertising has achieved healthy growth over the past year, up 21% on FY 10-11. It is the first time that Australian online advertising expenditure has exceeded $3 billion, Warc reports.

The majority (52.3%) of digital spend was for Search & Directories advertising, due to a spend increase of 30%. General Display advertising had a share of 27.2% of spend, with volumes increasing 15%. Classifieds advertising accounted for 20.5% of the pie, with its spend increasing 11%.

Mobile advertising has also seen a massive year, with ad spend up 212%. General display accounted for 60.3% of mobile spend, with search making up 39.7%.
