Australia in desperate need for the NBN rollout
SMH reports that Australia has ranked 21st out of 34 countries for fixed broadband subscriptions per 100 people, in a report conducted by the OECD.
Australia’s average number of people connected to fixed broadband is under the OECD average, although they rank higher with regards to mobile wireless broadband subscriptions.
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy says “Australia’s future economic and social prosperity will increasingly be tied to the digital economy.”
The goal of the NBN rollout is to deliver high-speed fibre optic cable broadband to 93 per cent of homes, schools and business across Australia by 2021.
As businesses gain access to higher speed internet, new solutions are entering the market which help these businesses improve efficiencies and manage data. These companies will be showcasing their solutions at the IP Networks Show in November.
