Indonesia Boosts IT Spending
A recent study by the International Data Corporation (IDC) has Indonesia leading its Southeast Asian neighbours in IT spending and ranked 19th in the world. Tech in Asia’s summary of the report shows that not only is IT spending in Indonesia about $11.5 billion in 2011, predicted growth is at a massive 18% year-on-year growth to reach over $17 billion in 2016.
The great news here is that it really supports the fact that the government is pushing both the public and private sector to drive the local economy through the technology sector. Building technology infrastructure is key for this enormous and sporadic archipelago to take it’s place on the world business stage – and the government’s push in this direction is seeing the fruits of their labour to reach the top of this list.
Though still hardware-heavy, Indonesian companies are spending a lot more on internet and mobile technology and software too. With a 240 million strong nation that has completely leap-frogged a techno-generation into Web 2.0, Indonesia’s top brands are reaching this massive consumer base through mobile channels and social media. We’re discussing this at The Internet Show Indonesia, happening this December in Jakarta. Join us to find out where your Indonesian customers and prospects are putting their marketing and technology budgets for 2013!
