Do’s and don’ts of web content.
Search how to write website content on Google and you are bombarded with 940,000, 000 results (in less than 0.23 seconds I might add). Some tips are very “common sense” while others I never thought about when it came to writing content. Take a chair and gather round the fire while I shoot a few do’s and don’ts of content writing at your puny brain.
1) Make sure the content is RELEVANT. Readers are coming to your website to learn about the topic area of your products or services. If you sell dog food, talk about dogs, dogs eating food, and food eating dogs (if there is such a thing).
2) Put conclusions in the beginning. People want to know the answer before the reason.
3) One idea per paragraph. Make them concise.
4) Use action words. Lead the readers and tell them what to do. Because the best tip of them all is probably TIP NUMBER 5.
5) Use lists instead of paragraphs. See what I did there?
6) Write short sentences. Make efficient use of your sentences to get your information across.
7) Use subheadings, so that readers can get to what they need to know straight away.
X) Psst, bonus tip – think about how your content affects the SEO of your website.
