Online Spending to Increase 40% in 2012
Online Spending in the Middle East has recently seen substantial growth rates, and this is looking set to continue. Visa Middle East have been researching online transactions in the region and have found some interesting statistics.
- Consumers in the UAE purchased US$2.8 billion (Dh10.28bn) of goods and services online in 2011
- Online spend is predicted to grow 40% in 2012
- Dubai eGov saw a 49% increase in online payment in 2011.
Stephen Leeds, the e-commerce business leader for Visa Middle East, spoke to The National and attributed the massive surge in online transactions to a change in consumer mindset and an increase in confidence.
