Singapore’s #LandTransport Authority (LTA) (@LTAsg) turns to the clouds

Singapore’s LandTransport Authority (LTA) turns to the clouds In Singapore, the government ministry in charge of anything and everything related to transport is making debut into the clouds. As reported by CIO-Asia, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has teamed up with Microsoft and used their Azure platform to create a unified portal that can be accessed by the public called MyTransport.Sg. In this way, LTA is hoping that app developers will develop mobile apps specifically for a mobile version of this site.

The portal will be able to display various information such as road conditions, traffic build ups and ERP rates. With all this information being made available real time, road users can make timely decisions on their travel options based on accurate information. There are plans to enable users to submit feedback to the website for LTA to take action. MyTransport.sg represents LTA foray into cloud computing. It’s taking explorative steps to assess the viability of not only the website but also the cloud computing concept. As such, project director Wee Tee Chinag says “We are taking a learning approach (to cloud computing)”
