#Facebook checks in with Aussie #retailers

097123-3d-glossy-blue-orb-icon-social-media-logos-facebook-logo-squareFacebook’s new check-in tool has already been adopted by several big name Australian retailers, including Commonwealth Bank, 7-Eleven, Westfield and KFC.

The social media giant’s much awaited location-based marketing tool follows the so far modest success of Foursquare in Australia.

The impressive list of Australian retailers already on board might suggest Facebook’s retail partnership strategy.

"I imagine the cost to promote a deal here will not be cheap so will really only be relevant for large national and international brands with large Facebook fan bases," says George Patterson Y&R social media strategist Tiphereth Gloria, in an SMH article this week.

Tiphereth Gloria is one of over 20+ speakers at The Internet Show Sydney’s Social Media World conference in October. Gloria will also be joined by Paul Wallace of 7-Eleven, who will present a case study of the convenience store chain’s use of Facebook.
